  7. ক্ষুদ্র আকৃতি বিশিষ্ট পোস্তদানা প্রাচীন সময় থেকে রান্নায় স্বাদবর্ধক হিসেবে ব্যবহার হয়ে থাকে। ইংরেজিতে একে poppy seed বলা হয় যা পপি নামক গাছ থেকে সংগ্রহ করে শুকনো অবস্থায় বাজারজাত করা হয়। পৃথিবীর সকল দেশেই এর ব্যবহার লক্ষ্য করা গেলেও মধ্য ইউরোপে এর জনপ্রিয়তা বেশি। হালুয়া, ব্রেড, পাস্তা, গ্রেভি ইত্যাতি রান্নায় এর প্রয়োগ হয়ে থাকে।
